Eiko Mutsu x Girls’ Manga - A Dokidoki “Ribbon” World

Yayoi Museum

Artists

Eiko Mutsu
Between the mid 1970s to the 1980s, the manga artist Eiko Mutsu actively contributed to the manga magazine “Ribbon”, with a host of girlish characters facing the complexities of love and friendship. Her style became known as “otome-tic” manga, in which girls are enchanted by boys of a tender sensibility and ivy league look. This exhibition unveils many of her original illustrations for the first time, along with magazine supplements amongst 530 samples of important documents.
