Michael Toenges “Paintings and Paperwork”

Taguchi Fine Art
Finished

Artists

Michael Toenges
Michael Toenges’s paintings are characterized by diverse colors and huge amounts of oil paint applied to canvases or wooden boards, making them resemble relief sculptures. Toenges paints in multiple layers with touches of various colors creating rich surfaces. Because each new application of paint is added individually, previous layers are not completely covered and can be glimpsed here and there. The three-dimensional aspect of the work stems from an arrangement of colors that is carefully considered not only on the surface but also in the depth.
