Frank Gehry
World-renowned architect Frank Gehry has spent over half a century upending architectural norms and defying expectations. His works span from the stunning Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao to the attention-getting Fondation Louis Vuitton, which opened last year. How does architecture nobody can copy - works overwhelming those who see them and leaving a deep impression - come about? This exhibition focuses on ideas that are the driving force behind Gehry’s creativity, tying together the background behind the formation of ideas, the process leading up to their completion, and the unchanging conviction and strong commitment of the architect.

The director of this exhibition is the young architect Tsuyoshi Tane, whose office in Paris, Dorell.Ghotmeh.Tane / Architects, has been in the spotlight as the designer of the Estonian National Museum and a finalist in the competition for the New National Stadium of Japan. Tane focuses on Gehry’s “power of ideas,” which greatly influenced his own work. He has organized the exhibition from the three perspectives of “architecture,” “people,” and “technology.”

The show features projection mapping, allowing one to visually experience exteriors full of the life force of Gehry’s architecture and his comfortable interior spaces, along with “Gehry’s Room,” offering a sense of Gehry as a person. It also introduces Gehry’s ideas born from building, tearing down, building again, questioning, and sometimes rejecting, along with the technologies, materials, and construction processes necessary for these achievements.
