During a two-month residency with Ongoing AIR, Jamie Mumford explored contemporary Tokyo’s “disco” aesthetics – its flashing neon lights, the chaotic intersections of Shibuya, the unusual energy of Kabukicho, the eccentric street fashion…karaoke, game parlors, pachinko shots, the various chimes and melodies ringing out in stations and around town. Photography, video installations, and other works channeling this playful energy are on display.
