Screen and Wall Paintings of Eitoku and the Kano School

The Rokuro Hara collection features the murals of the Miidera Temple’s former Nikkoin Temple reception hall, with wall paintings and screen based works painted in ink by members of the Kano School. These are works which once decorated Nikkoin Temple, one of the sub-temples of Shiga prefectures Miidera Temple (formerly Ono-ji Temple), including the “Tora no Mon” tiger paintings of Eitoku Kano himself, accompanied by the work of his disciples.

Hours	9:30-16:30
Closed	Thursday Open on public holidays. Open every day during August. Closed in between exhibitions and during winter. May close in case of bad weather.
Notice	Open on April 16th, 23rd, 30th and May 7th.

Fee

Adults ¥1100, University and High School Students ¥700, Junior High and Elementary School Students ¥500, Over 70 years old ¥550. Please see the museum website for more information.

Access

10 minutes by taxi from Shibukawa Station on the JR Joetsu line; From JR Shibukawa Station, take the Kan-etsu Kotsu bus towards Ikaho Onsen and get off at Green Bokujo-mae. The venue is 7 minute walk from there.
