Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions - See You on the Planet

Yebisu Garden Place
Finished

Artists

Takashi Homma, Gil Kno, Yusuke Sasaki, Ken Jacobs, Adel Abidin et al.
The theme of this year’s Festival is “See You on the Planet.” Satellite technology has made it possible for us to see images of the earth in real time, but while the penetration of media technology spurs vast changes in our environment, we find it ever harder to capture the world in its entirety the moving image offers an experience that transcends the boundaries of time and space. It allows us to “change our vantage point” and thereby to attempt to reconsider our present, as well as our past and future. Under the “See You on the Planet” theme, new avenues will be sought for rediscovering and addressing our multifaceted world. As if visiting an as yet unknown planet, this event will reexamine the potential of the moving image and art as tools for developing new perspectives, and discover contemporary approaches to accessing the world around us.

Venue: The Garden Hall, The Garden Room, L’institut Francais Hall Gallery, Yebisu Garden Place Central Plaza + other satellite venues
