Utilizing the techniques of carving Michiko Nakata (b. 1981, Tokyo) combines plaster with transparent resin to form intricate reliefs. Featuring motifs of young girls and birds her works are imbued with a quiet sense of strength. In this exhibition she presents work based on the images of houses and boats which call upon the binary of presence and absence.
