Bringing Pop to the World!! Pop Art in America

Takasaki Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Yukihisa Isobe et al.
First emerging in 1950s Britain and flourishing in 1960s America, pop art celebrated and critiqued the popular culture of mass consumer society, taking up images from magazines and commercials to form an art movement which became instantly recognizable. This exhibition features proponents of American pop art from Andy Warhol to Roy Lichtenstein along with the work of Japanese artists who were active in New York at the time as well as those keenly influenced by this trend.
