The Myth of Tomorrow - A Tale of the Public and its People

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art, Kawasaki
Finished

Artists

Taro Okamoto
Since his experience of living in Paris in the 1930s Okamoto was drawn to creating large scale murals, evading the single ownership of a particular collector but offering up issues to public through the presentation of such pieces in open spaces for all to see. This exhibition introduces the story of Okamoto’s murals, centering around “The Myth of Tomorrow”, the final panel of which is displayed in the accompanying exhibition of “Shinzaburo Takeda - Art Bridges of Mexico”, which unveils for the first time correspondence between the two artists along with other documents and drawings.
