Itaru Ogawa
Born in Tokyo in 1969 and graduating from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 1997, Itaru Ogawa currently takes his base in Chino City, Nagano while actively featuring in solo and group shows across many regions. The central crux of Ogawa’s painting is the representation of objects in a base of cold colors, recalling forms of the sky or the sea, fluctuating between inside and outside, positive and negative. Refraining from written description places these images before the viewer in a stirring of impulse and emotion which teeter on the edge just out of reach of linguistic expression and instead form a new language in themselves.
