Artists

Yoshinobu Nakagawa
Born in 1964 in Osaka Yoshinobu Nakagawa currently lives and works in Shiga prefecture. Since his debut solo show in 1987 Nakagawa has investigated the relations between humans and plants, taking up the motifs of the cultivation of the land. Considering the relation between artist and art work to closely reflect that of farmer and farm produce, Nakagawa plants the seeds within his canvas and nurtures them to come to some form. His poetic creations are at once simple and rich, utilizing a plethora of materials with a craftsman’s skill. Following his solo exhibition in Osaka in February of this year, here he explores the form of the notebook in a continuous dialogue between the flat and sculptural form.
