Nerhol
Japanese artist duo Nerhol, made up of Yoshihisa Tanaka and Ryuta Iida, has been attracting increasing attention internationally over recent years and here they present 7 photographic works devoted to the two digits “0″ and “1″. Searching a specific date on the internet and collecting vast amounts of images from the search results, these have been printed and processed into three-dimensional sculptures, featured here through their fragments caught from various angles. Following their well-known portrait series this body of work, which deals with abstract notion of numbers as a motif, conjures up many kinds of metaphors reflecting various aspects of contemporary society. The sculptural works photographed in the images will also be shown in the exhibition “01″ at YKG Gallery (Roppongi,Tokyo) from the 11th of July to the 29th of August.
