Takafumi Saito
Takafumi Saito refers to his own work as “searching out the phenomenon of the past, whilst taking a grasp on the current age”. At one glance his work appears to be a critique of political and social issues but the essence of his practice lies in his ability to distill the situation and madness of the present through a revision of the past. The title of this exhibition is based on a song from the Russo-Japanese War which his grandfather used to sing to him as a child. Here Saito attempts to approach the concept of history through personal experience.
