Talk “Cultural Cities of East Asia Study: Gwangju – A Creative City in Search of International Exchange”

The second Spectrum Salon talk welcomes from Gwangju, South Korea Chan Songun, director of the Gwangju Design Center, and Kim Chi-Ha of the National Asian Culture Hall to be opened this autumn. Along with Yokohama and China’s Quanzhou, Gwangju was named an East Asian Cultural City last year and became part of the Unesco Creative Cities Network, along with Lyon and Sapporo. Gwangju is expected to use media art to help further its development. At this talk, the two speakers will discuss what Gwangju can do to join the ranks of places like Yokohama with strategies as cultural cities, and also explain the value of culture-based international exchange.
