Naoki Ishikawa
In 2001, at the age of 23, Naoki Ishikawa climbed the world’s highest mountain, Everest, and in 2011 he made the challenge again, this time by a separate route. Following this he has made a number of trips to the Himalayas with his medium format camera and began to unveil a series of works shot from the extreme conditions he faced as he was climbing to the various peaks. In Summer 2015 he took on the world’s second tallest mountain, K2, known as the most dangerous mountain within over 8000m. Based in the mountain range of Karakorum along the border of Pakistan, China and India, even the approach towards the mountain is not easy. Within all of these challenges Ishikawa pursued his way to the summit and has recorded the extremities of the environment here.
