Takashi Homma “Camera Obscura Study”

Ginza Maison Hermès
Finished

Artists

Takashi Homma
The photographs featured in the current window display were developed in a darkroom across the street from Ginza’s Maison Hermès through a process of opening a small pinhole window and capturing the negative of the image created with the light that shines through. Exposure requires four hours, and the photographs produced with this time-consuming method condense the flow of time, seeming to reflect invisible air, light, and sounds in their images. Photographs using color negatives experience a breakdown of their color compositions due to their long exposures, evoking worlds that seem to transcend reality.
