Gerhard Richter
German artist Gerhard Richter debuts eight new works in his first solo exhibition for three years. These are accompanied by a selection of his glass lacquer works which he has continued to develop from 2010, as well as pieces from his “Over Painted Photo” series which layer oil and enamel paint upon snapshot photos, refusing to settle in a single category of painting or photography. These painted photo works have gained much attention for their embodiment of the essence of Richter’s approach and the questioning of medium. Here he presents such works produced using photography taken on his recent visit to the Seto Inland Sea region.
