Artists

Takako Azami
This exhibition follows Azami’s trajectory since 3.11, with her particular focus upon trees at night, caught in the moonlight rather than street lamps during the energy saving restrictions following the disaster. As the artist comments “Trees look charming when glittering in the sun, but at night they can seem frightening; they rustle and seem to breathe quietly. When I set out to observe this, I began to see their intrinsic colors more clearly than in daylight, and I realized that trees have unexpectedly versatile expressions in moonshine or under street lights,” and here she brings these expressions to subtle control upon the surfaces of her works.
