To mark the release of Noboru Tsubaki’s latest book a special talk event is hosted here highlighting Tsubaki’s search for those gaps which allow for a greater diversity of living and creativity within a society thwart with the pressures of mass job hunting, SNS bullying, the economic inequality of global capitalism and other feelings of entrapment within contemporary Japan. Tsubaki himself has a long career as an artist always searching for the next innovation working on projects from giant locusts to the director of Art Setouchi’s Shodoshima area. Yet he is not only an artist bu also a teacher, and in this role he continues to pursue a place for learning for all ages children to adults. Here he reflects on his new book in which he draws on his 30 years of experience of art and education and investigates the time and space required for the fostering of diverse individuality and creativity.
