Eisei-Bunko Collection - Ancient Chinese Formalism

Discovery Museum
Finished
Chinese poetry, Chinese writing, Confucianism, are all forms of learning which have been passed on from China to Japan and proved popular past-times of samurai during the Edo period. The founder of the Eisei-Bunko Collection, and descendent of a feudal lord, Moritatsu Hosokawa(1883-1970) learnt familiarity with the arts of China since a young boy which came to inspire him to collect historic Chinese art. This exhibition features such masterpieces as “Bronze ferrule with design of birds and animals in gold and silver inlay” along with other examples of copper utensils and ceramics.
