Artek, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec
“Kaari” is the Finnish word for “arch”. The French designers and brothers, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, have created the Kaari collection. Kaari consists of entirely new design modules and will almost certainly be regarded as a classic in the future. Artek has produced a number of design systems, including the “L-Leg” created by Alvar Aalt in the 1930s. Working from these original systems, Artek’s Alvar Aalt collection takes productivity to a new height. The simple and organic design of Alvar Aalt collection changes the relationship between furniture and people, forming a universal masterpiece. 80 years later, the Bouroullec brothers have inherited the spirit of these Artek designers and have subsequently invented the contemporary Kaari system. Tables are generally considered a simple product, and their designs as something you would never radically change. With the Kaari furniture collection, you can witness a gradual progression of tables in design. You can feel the spirit of the ideas which have been passed on from designer to designer.
