Rossetti, Millais and Hunt formed the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood which enjoyed much success in the mid-19th century. At that time Liverpool was the most thriving port in England because of its various industries including shipbuilding and the export of industrial products. National Museums Liverpool is a group of museums and galleries including three museums in and around Liverpool, and is known worldwide for its collection of masterpieces of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. This exhibition introduces approximately 70 examples of watercolor and oil paintings of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and its followers from the collection of National Museums Liverpool, highlighting the notion of “Britishness” within modern British art with the keyword “Dreams of Britain”.
