Yoichi Umetsu “From Lamb to Mutton”

Artists

Yoichi Umetsu
A two-part exhibition at Arataniurano and NADiff Gallery. The latter will focus on “lamb” in reference to artists’ young, early periods, while the former presents pieces from mature points in their careers. NADiff intermingles “lamb” era works with new projects, while Arataniurano’s show of more established “mutton” works presents a painting by Yoichi Umetsu more than three meters in size, based on Seiki Kuroda’s “Wisdom, Impression, Sentiment” and Ferdinand Hodler’s “Noon” (1900), which was displayed along Kuroda’s aforementioned work at the 1900 Paris World Fair. Also on show at Arataniurano is edited footage of “Parplume Propoganda” from dramatist Daisuke Kishii’s “Present in Asia” event and new works on themes of conceptual art and art movements.
