Chiba City Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Lucie Rie
Leading British ceramicist of the 20th century, Lucie Rie(1902-1995) created enchanting forms on the potter’s wheel, producing unique patterns through the use of inlay and scrapping techniques, while bringing a particular warmth through her choice of glazes, combining to embody something of simultaneous delicacy and command. To mark 20 years since her death this exhibition provides a retrospective of Rie’s work through a selection of 200 works, the majority of which is unveiled for the first time in Japan, following the creative course of this iconic figure.
