Artists

Paul Gauguin, Maximilien Luce, Emile Bernard, Henri Moret, Paul Sérusier, Maurice Denis
The commune of Pont-Aven in Brittany, France, has captivated artists since the 19th century with its beautiful scenery. Paul Gauguin visited with dreams of discovering an artist’s paradise, and it was during his stay here that he turned away from impressionism and developed a new style. The exhibition will display works by Gauguin, Émile Bernard, Maurice Denis, and other artists who were active in the Pont-Aven scene, on loan from the Musée des beaux-arts de la Ville de Quimper and other museums.
