Benefiting from the sea and abundant water currents, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures have based their postwar development on them. In the middle of rapid economic growth, as the fishing industry expanded and industrial areas were built, the status of water changed: from a major element of the natural environment, it became an almost limitless resource to be exploited. Tracing back this process, this screening focuses on the perception of water resources in postwar Japan.
