The Post War Age of Saburo Miyamoto
This event has ended.
Having taken on the role as a war painter during WWII Saburo Miyamoto later attempted to make a new start after the conflict had ended. Before the war came to a close he took to his home town of Komatsu, Ishikawa prefecture where he would draw soft images of the landscape and his family whilst also being involved in the establishment of the Nikikai Group and began to make his way back to the art world. In 1948 he returned to his home in Setagaya, and four years later set out with his wife for his second trip around Europe. From the mid 1950s he contributed to the introduction of abstract expressionism from the West to Japan whilst also pursuing his own unique style of painting.
