“I believe Shinjuku to be the most attractive place in the world. If someone asked me why, I would answer it’s because it is full of different people. But I’ve had an idea how to put what was on my mind into words: When I say ‘Shinjuku’ it’s neither about the district of Tokyo (?) or about the station. For me it is perhaps that place where a lot of people are gather. An image of many people out in the streets comes immediately to my mind. When I blend into that crowd, I realize that I’m there. North, South, East, and West, and not only into the layers above but also into the layers below, it has many facets. Regardless of the time of day, there are a huge variety of purposes and such a wide range of audiences. This place is always a hustle-and-bustle environment. A city of subculture, fashion, salaryman, young culture and so on. There are always a types of city images. But I feel like it doesn’t have those image, and accept the way just you are. So now we consider to have exhibition about it.” (Osada, Weishan)
