Artists

Fabio Mauri
Fabio Mauri (1926–2009) was a prominent Italian artist, author, and playwright chosen four times for the Venice Biennale. With the cooperation of the London’s Avivson gallery and Mauri’s assistant, displayed are six of Mauri’s original works, along with maquettes of plans for his exhibitions, the work “Europa Bombardata” created in Tokyo in 1978, and a film offering interpretations of Mauri’s works. This exhibition deals not only with themes of war and the historical facts of other countries, but with also discrimination, victimization, apathy and lack of imagination towards others, and the difficulty of cooperation. Mauri’s works provoking thought on respect for all life have much to say to people in Japan today.
