Yusuke Shibata
Shibata is an artist highly skilled in video, photography and installation. Having first met with Art Center Ongoing director Nozomu Ogawa around the start of the art space he left a particular impression with MA final work photographing a CG visual of a model house.
Since then he has continuned to push the boundaries between truth and fiction, light and dark, artificial and natural. Love hotels rising like gold in the mountains, midnight discos in the laundry shop, skateboards made from pizza boxes, his works twist our sensibility of familiarity and expectation.
In this exhibition he focuses on his photographic practice and seeks out acts of freedom within the public space.
