Artists

Yudai Nishi
Hailing from Kyoto and currently based in Tokyo, Yudai Nishi creates paintings cut into the shapes of their subjects featuring simple, powerful lines and bright, rich colors. Their motifs create a sense of déjà vu as familiar objects or those that have mysteriously morphed in some way. While it would be easy to call these works pop, Nishi’s roots lie within American comics and story art with a self-formed design sense. Turning the recognizable on its head, they ironically reflect today’s many ways of seeing the world, its complex forms communication, and increasingly diverse ways of being. They offer visual proposals to the issues we all face.

Nishi now presents around 30 pepper-themed works, including panel paintings of various sizes and new silk-screen prints. Original goods including limited edition t-shirts and socks are available for purchase.
