As this year marks 5 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake the University Art Museum - Tokyo University of the Arts takes this opportunity to examine the support offered and received by major art museums in Miyagi, Iwate and Fukushima and the national network of art museums which contributed to this. This exhibition focuses on the local engagement of artists held in the museums’ collections and the restoration work of Yoshitatsu Yanagihara’s “Woman of the Rock”, which was severely damaged by the tsunami.
