Made in Occupied Japan 1947-1952
This event has ended.
In the period between 1947-1952 as the free market was opened in Japan under American occupation, GHQ managed the production of products in the country and exported goods under the stamp of “Made in Occupied Japan”. Goods included pottery, decorations, clothes, cameras, sewing machines, toys and everyday products. Since this time these goods have become collectors items in the US and Canada, and assigned a particular sentimental value. This exhibition draws together 200 examples of ceramics produced from around the country in this time, reminding us of the time of occupation and our 70 years of post-war experience.
