Since its establishment in 2001, Tokyo Wonder Site (TWS) has been engaging in the discovery, education and support of young artists. “TWS-NEXT” is a program that was implemented with the aim to offer continuous support to young artists who have participated in artist residencies, “TWS-Emerging” or other TWS programs.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011, our living conditions have changed significantly. There are things we hadn’t noticed before, things we used to ignore, but once our daily life had changed, we certainly began to look again at many of those aspects we had turned a deaf ear or a blind eye to. Artists are particularly sensitive to such phenomena, and quick to visualize the invisible transformations and current state of society.

The term “clairvoyance” refers to the ability of second sight and high perceptiveness. The works by five such highly perceptive, “clairvoyant” artists/groups exhibited here surely represent possible new perspectives for our own perception of the world.
