Sakan Kanno “Condensed”

Artists

Sakan Kanno
Sakan Kanno is well known for his dancing curved lines and delicate abstractions of painting and here presents a body of new sculptural work. The new series “Five Square” combines iron painted with lacquer and enamel and overlaid with fields of acrylic paint and pencil. While up until now Kanno has made use of high gloss of varnish, in this case he makes use of matte paint and veils the shine of metal with the flowing patterns rendered in pencil, creating a certain tension between sense of weight and light.
