Gaetan Kubo is an artist that creates work around theories and phenomena relating to the occult, drawing on ideologies from disciplines as diverse as social science, psychoanalysis, theology and philosophy. As historical transformations and major changes occur with the discovery of new theories, we continue to develop objections in opposition. Kubo creates work based upon his own bizarre theories - in this way he is much like a mad scientist, employing dramatic and entertaining methods to instantiate intangible “occult” forms. What his artworks offer is a way to explore the occult not only as a mental subject, but also as a physical experience located in the body.
