Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum

poster for Cherry Blossom of Koganei

This event has ended.

The Koganei embankment runs along the Tamagawa Josui canal and is edged by a long line of cherry blossom trees. These cherry blossoms were planted in the Edo period and moved here from Sakuragawa, Hitachi. In the Meiji era this district became a loved suburban area and in 1924 Musashi-Koganei station was built in order to allow people to pursue Hanami here. This exhibition follows Koganei’s long and fond relationship with the cherry blossom.
