In his novel “Machineh no Owarini” (At the End of the Matinee), Keiichiro Hirano’s classical guitarist protagonist ruminates on what to do as a person and performer in his 40s. Here Hirano collaborates with several contemporary artists to tackle issues of how to create serious works of literature and art, how to get their messages across, and how to sell them, looking at platforms such as the internet, newspaper serial columns, classes, and exhibitions as innovative forms of creation. In addition to pieces by the ten contemporary artists joining force with Hirano, works selected in an open-call competition sponsored by the creative content website note are featured.
