The Youth of Saburo Miyamoto
This event has ended.
With the dream of becoming a painter, Ishikawa born Saburo Miyamoto made his way to Tokyo at the age of 17 and studied under the likes of Takeji Fujishima and Sotaro Yasui. At the age of 22 he was selected for the Nika Exhibition and gained attention with his nudes, female forms and depictions of family members. He went on to visit Europe in his early 30s and while studying at the l’Academie de Lanson spent his days visiting the Louvre. But during this stay the WWII broke out and was forced to return to Japan where he was to become a war painter. This exhibition reviews the early career of Miyamoto up to 1945.
