Kanransha opened in 1977 as a small Ginza gallery that exhibited the posthumous works of Japanese artists. After an encounter with the works of Joseph Beuys, its owner began introducing work by European contemporary artists. For more than 25 years it sought out works demonstrating both newness and truth.
