There are moments when you see everyday items such as cookie boxes lined up and become overcome with emotion. The boxes encase many identical items within a demarcated space, and it is as if multiple independent worlds exist. Similarly, the attraction of American artist Joseph Cornell’s assemblages is their power to present alternative, fully-formed realities.
This exhibition will present works by 12 artists that explore the mysterious charm of boxes.
