Artists

Yasuo Kuniyoshi
Yasuo Kuniyoshi (1889–1953) was a painter, photographer, and printmaker active in America during the turbulent first half of the 20th century. His work is currently back in the limelight, with a retrospective at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington D.C. last year. Focusing on the Fukutake Collection, the largest of Kuniyoshi’s work in the world, this exhibition presents selections offering a look back on his career. Around 50 works, including the painting “Clown,” are shown publicly in Japan for the first time.
