Visual Arts and Music

Museum of Modern Art, Gunma
Finished

Artists

Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall et al.
Arts, music, and literature have been considered close relatives since ancient times, with the visual arts and music in particular overlapping and drawing inspiration from each other, especially since the age of Romanticism. This exhibition spotlights Western art’s abstract portrayals of music in the mid-19th century while also exploring how art, like music, became increasingly abstract.
