One of the characteristics of photography is its function as a record, with the supposed function of capturing the world without manipulation. However the fact is that the world reflected in a photograph is not necessarily that of reality. With the spread of digital technology it is always possible to alter, erase and add to the image held within the photograph. To take a single photograph with a camera takes a mere second but here Ryuji Tokuda has produced photographs over days and months in acts of artifice.
