Maki Fine Arts
Finished

Artists

Ryosuke Ogino, Kazuhito Tanaka
Born 1970 in Saitama, Japan, Ryosuke Ogino graduated from the School of Political Science and Economy at Meiji University. He worked in the corporate world before completing the B-semi Learning System program in 1998. Notable exhibitions include solo shows “Hello” (See Saw Gallery + Cafe, 2016) and “kotenten” (Switch Point, 2015) as well as the group show “Present-Day Paintings: Two-Dimensional Works of Four Artists” (Kawagoe City Art Museum, 2015).

Born 1973 in Saitama, Japan, Kazuhito Tanaka graduated from Meiji University with a degree in commerce. After a stint in the corporate world, Tanaka flew to the US and graduated from the School of Visual Arts New York in 2004. Notable shows include “pLastic fLowers” (Maki Fine Arts, 2015) and “blocks” (SUNDAY, 2013) along with the group show “NEW BALANCE #3” (XYZ Collective, 2015). In 2011, he received the TOKYO FRONTLINE photo award. His next solo show “Trans / Real: The Potential of Intangible Art vol.3” at Gallery αM will be curated by Gen Umezu (Museum of Modern Art, Saitama principal curator / art institute).

Both artists have been presenting abstract images using color and configuration in their themes: Ogino through paintings and Tanaka through photographs. While differences exist between paintings and photographs, commonality can be found in their work’s format wherein modernism through formalism is critically referenced from various angles. In “Duo,” both artists will showcase their new works.
