The new art fair Art Photo Tokyo – Edition Zero (Nov. 18–Nov. 20, 2016) distinguishes itself from conventional photo fairs in that it features not only contemporary art photography but also works by fashion and commercial photographers, showcasing their artistic creativity on equal grounds in a unique combination of art and design. The fair aims to establish itself as a quintessentially Japanese art event in every sense, keeping intact the world-class quality of its artworks to provide a hub for the Asian market.

As Tokyo’s premier photo event, Art Photo Tokyo brings together over sixty carefully curated photo artists, commercial and fashion photographers, and video artists from across the globe. It boasts an array of workshops and talks designed for art enthusiasts and collectors while also providing programs for children and families. Expanding the appeal of photography and video imagery, the fair also features live performances by critically acclaimed musicians and media artists.

A unique office building on the corner of the Kayabacho crossing has been chosen as the venue. Here, Art Photo Tokyo will infuse fresh air into an area that once stood for Japanese economic success. Innovative culture-led enterprises such as Sarutahiko Coffee and Qusamura (a botanical artist collective) have joined forces with Lexus (presenting vehicles not yet on the market) in an amalgamating of diverse contemporary creativity including architecture, design, music, and food combined with photography and video.
