The public entry competition “Face” (“Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Art Award”) was established to carry forward the 35-year mission of fostering and supporting emerging artists. The 4th “Face” exhibition saw the entry of many impressive works from 857 emerging artists throughout Japan. The jury members selected 71 works of international appeal through a process of time-consuming consideration. The Grand Prix Award work will go on to become a part of the museum’s collection, and the Grand Prix Award winner and three Excellent Work Award winners will be given further opportunities to join special exhibitions of the museum in the future. With the motto “The gateway to the art world regardless of age or affiliation”, this program offers support to artists in their 20s to their 80s and looks forward to their developments from now on.
