Chen Ruo Bing experiments how to unite in his painting, the tradition of Chinese painting and Chinese philosophy as Tao-ism, Confucianism and Buddhism which is already a part of his nature, with the European modernism where he lives in. With the equal value of the image and the background made by repeated geometric forms, the shallow and decorative painting space, the delicate blot of acrylic which reminds us ink painting in China, the composition with only simple geometric forms as square and circle, and bright color which evokes the sense of joy, and with the metaphysical light overflowing from the inside of the painting, Chen produces very unique, meditative and attractive paintings. Chen has already spent the half of his life in Germany and it seems that he has obtained his own original painting style, jumping over the framework of confrontation of the East and the West however his fundamental stance is the same and consistent, which is a Chinese painter who is working in the middle of European modern culture.
