This exhibition showcasing the Japanese art of repair has been organized by the Japan Design Committee. Since ancient times, the Japanese have found special beauty in the various ways in which broken vessels can be fixed and made good again. By carefully mending cracks and fissures, it is thought that a new beauty can be found and additional value created. Ceramic repair techniques include various methods such as lacquer patching (which uses gold and silver splicing) and sintering. Explore the unique aesthetic sense of the Japanese with this ceramic exhibition.
