It is no exaggeration to say Akiko Isobe, who drastically retouches her subjects, positions herself as far away as possible from today’s fashion photography favoring natural beauty. Skillfully using models, Isobe captures curiously perverse scenes that can be read as both bizarre and brutal. In addition to previous photography, this show presents Isobe’s sculptures and other works taking a new approach.
